Sebaceous Hyperplasia Treatment: Siit pro Post-Care Plan
By Spa Apsara | August 26, 2026
Right after your Siit pro Treatment Sebaceous Hyperplasia at our Fircrest studio, the single most important rule is simple: keep the area clean, protected, and hands-off. That means gentle cleansing, a thin layer of ointment, no makeup for now, and zero picking even if you see light crusting. This is a quick, efficient appointment (up to 45 minutes), and the aftercare is just as straightforward when you follow it step-by-step.
First 24 to 48 hours: keep it clean, calm, and covered only if we told you to
For the first two days, think “gentle and boring.” Most irritation after sebaceous hyperplasia removal style treatments comes from doing too much too soon.
48-hour rule: Cleanse gently once or twice a day, pat dry, apply a very thin layer of petroleum jelly or the ointment we gave you, and skip makeup, pools, saunas, exfoliants, and heavy sweating.
Do this
- Cleanse once or twice daily with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. No scrubs, no cleansing brushes.
- Pat dry with a clean towel or gauze. Rubbing is a sneaky way to pull off early crusting.
- Apply ointment sparingly. You want a thin, glossy layer, not a thick coating.
- Cover only if instructed. If we asked you to keep it covered, we’ll also tell you how often to change it.
Avoid this
- Makeup on the treated area (especially foundation and concealer that can trap bacteria).
- Exfoliating acids, retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, and strong “tingly” serums for at least 48 to 72 hours.
- Swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and intense sweat sessions for 48 to 72 hours or until the skin has closed over.
- Waxing, sugaring, or threading directly over the area until it’s fully healed.
Days 3 to 14: the “don’t pick” window that protects texture
Light crusting is common. It can look a little dry, a little rough, or like a tiny dark dot as it’s healing. The hard part is leaving it alone. We know it’s tempting, especially if you’re used to fixing things quickly in the mirror. But picking is the fastest way to trade a small spot for a bigger problem.
In most cases, crusts fall off naturally in about 7 to 14 days. During that time, keep cleansing gently and use ointment as needed for comfort. If the area feels tight, you can usually add a touch more ointment, but still keep it thin.
Fircrest reminder: our Tacoma peninsula summer sun is no joke. Plan outdoor time like a Chambers Bay walk with shade in mind, and protect the treated spot even if it doesn’t feel “burny.”
SPF 30+ for 2 to 4 weeks: the easiest way to prevent a dark spot
If you do one thing beyond keeping it clean, make it sun protection. Freshly treated skin is more likely to pigment. That means a spot that would have faded quietly can hang around longer if it gets UV exposure too early.
What we generally recommend
- Broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily for at least 2 to 4 weeks.
- Physical shade when you can: a hat, sunglasses, staying out of direct sun during peak hours.
- Skip tanning completely while it’s healing.
If you’re in Fircrest near Regents Boulevard and you’re running errands along Bridgeport Way, keep a mini SPF in your bag so reapplying doesn’t become a whole thing. Small habit, big payoff.
Products that help (and what to pause) after sebaceous hyperplasia treatment
For this healing window, we keep your routine simple on purpose. The goal is comfort and clean healing, not “active” results.
Stick with
- A mild cleanser (no exfoliating beads, no strong fragrance).
- Petroleum jelly or the ointment we recommended, applied thinly.
- Broad-spectrum SPF 30+ once the skin is ready for it.
Pause for now
- Retinoids, strong acids, peels, and exfoliating masks until the treated area is fully closed and smooth again.
- At-home devices that heat, scrape, or aggressively “polish” the skin.
And a quick reality check on sebaceous hyperplasia treatment at home: most DIY options can’t safely target the gland the way an in-studio treatment can, and irritation often makes the area look worse before it looks better. If you’re tempted to experiment mid-heal, message us first. We’ll talk you down from the ledge.
When to reach out to Spa Apsara (and what’s normal)
A little redness, mild tenderness, and light crusting can be normal. Heavy bleeding is not. Spreading redness that keeps expanding is not. Pus-like drainage is not. If something feels “off, ” trust that instinct and call us.
"The entire team at Spa Aspara is phenomenal, and I'm grateful to have found such a wonderful spa."
one of our long-time clients
Reach out same day if you notice: heavy bleeding, increasing pain, spreading redness beyond the treated margin, yellow or green drainage, fever, or swelling that’s getting worse instead of better.
